Afternoon Delight

Can you believe it's (almost) October! As much as I hate saying goodbye to summer, fall is my favorite season: colorful leaves, back-to-school excitement, the crisp autumn air, and FOOTBALL! :)

I'm participating in the Stuff to Scrap blog train again this month and I absolutely love the colors that were chosen. They're really different from a lot of what's out there right now. And I've seen all the previews--you're in for a real treat--there are a lot of beautiful stuff for you.

Download is expired.

And here is the list of the rest of the designers taking part in this month's blog train. If a particular designer doesn't have her portion listed, please check back. We're spread all across the globe. Also, be sure to snag stuff by the 15th. After that date, designers are free to put their portion in their store(s). My portion of this blog train will remain free all month.

Enjoy!

Haunted Halloween

Hello all! Hope you're all well. It feels like forever since I've posted about myself or a new kit. Things have been really hectic--sometimes good, sometimes bad--around here. My grandfather's health has slipped a bit and we've been dealing with all sorts of doctors appointments. He's doing better than he was a couple of weeks ago but not as good as he was a couple of months ago, unfortunately. That, coupled with the new school year, has kept me busy.

Now on to scrapping news...

I've got a new kit in the store called "Haunted Halloween." I did a kit with the same name last year but I've completely re-vamped the kit: brand new papers, elements, alphas (six in all), and worn papers. My CT did a fabulous job with this kit and I appreciate them doing it on short notice! (They got the kit from me on Thursday.) Check out their layouts:

Here's my layout. That's me, circa 1988. Here's a look at the entire kit. It's pretty huge: 15 papers, 39 elements, and six (yes, six) glitter alphas. (Image is linked to the store.)
I also created a set of worn papers to go with the kit as I know many of you are big fans of worn papers. (Image is linked to the store.)
I'll see you tomorrow night with a new mini-kit. Have a good couple of days and happy scrapping!

Problems with 4shared

This past weekend, 4shared was hacked. The attack/hack began sometime Saturday and service was not restored until sometime yesterday. This is the latest in a string of incidents with the site that have left me questioning how to best distribute my work. Because I cannot guarantee that none of my files were compromised, I've decided to remove the links to all freebies on my blog prior to this post. Some links may be out there, but all files have been or will be deleted from my 4shared account very soon.

I apologize for any issues this creates for you, but I do not want my work associated with a site I can no longer trust. As time permits, I will be moving the links to Sandy's BB pages & QPs to another server for downloading. As those sets become available, I will let you know. I already have plans in place as to how you will receive freebies from me in the future.

Thanks for your patience and understanding as I deal with this!

New kit: Angela's Wedding

Are you having a good weekend? I am! It started Friday morning (early) with a day-long trip to the Minnesota State Fair. I met my favorite radio hosts, saw my favorite musical group perform, and got a 1919 Root Beer float. PLUS, I got to eat at one of my favorite restaurants that evening. Doesn't get much better than that!

I've got a brand new kit this week called Angela's Wedding. Angela, a member of my CT, was in need of a kit that she could use to scrap her wedding pictures. She gave me some guidance and content suggestions and away I went. I have to say, I love the final result: It's soft, elegant, and very versatile. It can definitely be used to scrap more than just wedding pictures, as shown by the layouts my CT created:
Michele
Another gorgeous layout from MicheleBeth
Of course, you can use it for wedding (or wedding-related) pictures if you'd like, as Angela (who inspired the kit) did. Gorgeous!
And here's my layout. The picture is of the cake at my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary party last summer.
Here's a preview of the entire kit, available only at Stuff to Scrap. And, just for making it through this post and all the fabulous pictures, I've got a little freebie for you!

Belated Happy Blogiversary!

My friends and family will tell you that I'm usually very good at remembering dates likes birthdays and anniversaries. Guess what I forgot? My blogiversary! Yep, Shel Belle Scraps was officially one year old on Tuesday!

The past year has been an incredible one for me. I've learned a lot about design (and improved a lot, if I do say so myself), met so many wonderful people in the digi-scrap community, and been touched time and again by how many of you take the time to leave a comment and let me know you like my work.

So, to celebrate, I've got a little freebie alpha for you. The font is called Wooden Nickel Black and I found it on SearchFreeFonts.com. It's an acrylic alpha that includes lowercase letters, numbers, and some symbols/punctuation. I did a slightly beveled edge on it to make it stand out a bit more. The preview shows the letters at 80%.
Click on the picture to download and please leave some love.

I've got some goodies from Sandy for you coming soon. Have a great evening and happy scrapping!

Postcard project

I've got a favor to ask: Ginger, one of my CT members, is a teacher. One of the things she likes to do each year is collect postcards from around the world. She needs your help. This is from her blog:
It's time for me to send out my annual plea for postcards from your hometown and/or vacation spots. We use these in class to learn about other places and compare them to where we live. I've done this project for a few years now and it is always such a big hit with the kids in my class. There is nothing they love more then receiving these postcards from far away and not so far away places.

My school isn't really in the inner city, but it isn't in the best of neighborhoods either. Most of the kids in my class have never traveled anywhere other then to the houses right on their street. Many of them don't even go to the beach and we live in Miami! Your postcards open up the world to them and gets them thinking about places they would like to visit or even live someday.

We will be collecting these all year so if you can't send us one right now it's Ok. We'll be happy any time they arrive! Here's our address if you can help us out...

Ms. Brown's Class
Greynolds Park Elementary
1536 N.E. 179th Street
North Miami Beach, FL 33162

I've got a second part to my request this year. Will you please make a post about our project on your blog? You can either put the address on your blog or send your readers here to get it.

If you make a post on your blog, please come back
here and leave a comment with the link and on Friday I will pick someone to win a $5.00 gift certificate to the store at Stuff to Scrap.
If you wouldn't mind taking a moment to send her class a postcard I know they'd really appreciate it. And, if you make a post about the project on your blog, you could win a $5.00 Stuff to Scrap gift certificate. How cool is that?
