Summer Romance blog train

What a fantastic weekend! I had friends in town attending an academic conference and got together with some of them each of the past three nights. So much fun to spend time with them! Today, I attended our local Memorial Day ceremony and paid tribute to those who have served our country.

May was a very busy month for me. I've got four or five kits in the works--including some great collabs. Between the "in progress" kits, regular life, training for a fall half-marathon, and other responsibilities, I wasn't able to get a mini-kit designed for the June Stuff to Scrap blog train. But you could always use an alpha, right? I pulled the navy blue from the palette and created a fun, versatile alpha for you. I used the font Doodolonomy Fred which is available at SearchFreeFonts. The alpha includes lowercase letters, numbers, and some punctuation.

Here is the list of the rest of the designers taking part in this month's blog train. If a particular designer doesn't have her portion posted yet, please check back. We're spread out all across the globe. Also, be sure to snag stuff by the 15th. After that date, designers are free to put their portion in their store(s).

Memorial Day 2010 mini-kit

Monday marks the unofficial start of summer in the United States: Memorial Day, during which we take time to pause and remember those who have died in service to our country. This year will especially poignant for me, as my grandfather's name will be read during the local ceremony. He served in World War II and we were always very proud of his service to our country.

In honor of the holiday, I've designed a little mini-kit, Memorial Day 2010, to help you scrap photos of Memorial Day (or any other patriotic holiday). I used the same cream, red, and blue as I used in Sail Away, so it coordinates with that kit. The mini contains 7 papers (4 patterned, 3 solid) and 11 elements (2 bows, glitter splat, Memorial Day tag, plain journal spot, flower, striped ribbon, ricrac, brad, flair, and a frame). This mini will only be available as a freebie until the morning of Tuesday, June 1st and then it will move to my store.

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!

Blossom

A couple of weeks ago, I was browsing palettes at one of my favorite color sites, ColourLovers. I wanted to see what colors it would suggest to go with orchid purple and it suggested some really fun, vibrant colors. So fun and vibrant, I just knew I had to so something with them! Hence, the kit "Blossom" was born.

Check out some of the beautiful layouts my CT created:
A closer look at the entire kit, which includes 14 papers, 37 elements, and a full alpha (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and some punctuation).A closer look at the papers.
I also created a coordinating set of worn papers. This week only, you can get the worn papers FREE if purchase Blossom and use the code "wornblossom" (no quotes) at checkout.

Finally, I've got a little freebie created especially for you, a cluster frame.

Have a great day and happy scrapping!

Zany Ziggles

Usually when I create a kit, I create it with a specific purpose or theme in mind--nautical, school, baby, wedding, Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and the like. So when I needed to create a participation prize last month for a speed scrap I hosted at Stuff to Scrap, I decided to take the opposite approach and had no particular theme in mind. I found a fun palette and decided to see where my creativity took me.

With the help of my Facebook fans, the kit wound up being named Zany Ziggles. It includes 10 papers, 23 elements, and one alpha. The elements include bows, flowers, buttons, hardware (screw head, staple, bookplate, paperclip, etc.), clip, glitter splat, journaling spots, ribbons, ric rac, stitches, string, and a bead spill. The alpha is a fun scribbled sticker alpha.

The kit is now available in the store. And with Stuff to Scrap having sale all month, you can pick up the kit at a discount! (Image is linked to the store.)

Sail Away

You never know when inspiration is going to strike. A few weeks ago, I was walking through the aisles at one of my favorite stores, Target, when I passed the home decor section. This pillow caught my eye and I instantly thought, "That pattern and those colors would make for a great scrapbooking kit." I couldn't wait to get home and get started on it.

What started out as a regular sized kit quickly turned into a mega kit. The kit includes both nautical-themed and all-purpose papers and elements. I am absolutely blown away by what the amazing layouts my CT created. The did a fantastic job showing just how versatile this kit really is. Check out this eye candy:
This mega kit contains 22 papers, 56 elements, and 1 full alpha. Check out the previews (images linked to the store):

I also created a coordinating set of cardstocks to go with this kit.
And this week only, you can get the coordinating cardstocks for free if you use the code shel_sailaway_cardstock when you purchase the kit.

Just for sticking around for this lengthy post, a little sampler of kit for you.
