Holidays at Home

Happy Monday to you! Did you have a good weekend? It was a snow-filled one again here. Minnesota (or as I call it Minne-snow-ta) received nearly 18 inches of snow this weekend. It was one of the biggest snowfalls on record and even managed to take down the roof at the Metrodome! I like snow--especially when it's fresh and new, but I don't like it when it interferes with my weekend plans. I had plans with friends both Saturday and Sunday that had to be canceled. I was not happy about that; I'd been looking forward to seeing them for quite a while. But better safe than sorry. We'll re-schedule and get together soon. Instead of spending my days with friends, I spent a good share of my weekend doing some holiday baking, scrapping, and reading.

I've got a mini-kit for you today. I started this kit a few months ago and never finished it. While doing some scrapping this weekend, I realized it was perfect for the photos I was scrapping. The kit grew a bit and wound up with 8 papers (4 patterned, 4 solid) and 17 elements. I made sure you had some good basics like buttons and stitches in the kit. You always need those, right?

Arial Glass alpha and a question

Before I get to the freebie alpha, I have a quick questions to ask. I'm mulling over the idea of doing a free monthly mini-kit to help people with their daily, weekly, or monthly scrapping goals. I know a number of people do P365/Project 52 or something similar. Are you interested? Let me know in the comments section below, or send me an e-mail (shelbellescraps {at} gmail {dot} com) if you're interested and what sorts of things you'd like to see such kits include.

Now to the alpha...

One of the nice things about being a designer is that if I'm looking for something particular to use in a layout and I can't find it, I can create it! I was working on a layout for a calendar project. I needed something in an easy-to-read typeface and neutral. I chose Arial Rounded MT Bold fort he typeface and created a glass alpha.

After I was all done, I thought: Why not share it? You can never have too many versatile alphas, right?

The alpha includes uppercase, lowercase, numbers, punctuation, and some international symbols. The .zip files includes each letter/number individually, as well as in contact sheet form for those who prefer their alphas that way.
