A random mini-kit

Yesterday I posted about the ScrapMatters Design Star 2011 contest. I couldn't reveal my entry here until first-round voting was completed; I found out this morning that I didn't make it to Round Two. Though I'm disappointed, it was a fun contest and I really enjoyed it. It was a great way to kick-start the design portion of my brain again.

Our assignment was to create a mini kit of three papers and five elements using the palette the provided. We could only use two CU products TOTAL in the kit. (This is where I learned the most--I created two textures, a ribbon, a button, and a price tag string on my own--and that was just a portion of what I photographed/scanned for future use.) I chose four of the six palette colors--a soft blue, a medium blue, a creamy yellow, and a light cocoa--for my mini and designed with my new nephew in mind. He's a very well-photographed little guy and I need to get going on scrapping those pictures! I may eventually expand this into a full-size kit.

So, without any further ado, I present to you my Design Star 2011 entry:
