March of the Animals blog train

Can you believe it's already March? After all the snow we've had here this winter I am sooooooooooooooooooo ready for spring!

The theme for the March 2011 Stuff to Scrap blog train is "March of the Animals." As with the past couple of Stuff to Scrap blog trains, I created a template for you. No particular point of inspiration for this one except I knew I wanted a zigzag stripe on it. It was really fun to see what developed. (Usually I design with a specific idea or image in my head of what I want something to look like.) The download file includes the template in .png, .psd, and .tiff formats so you can use it no matter what program you use.

Here is the list of the rest of the designers taking part in this month's blog train. If a designer doesn't have her portion posted yet, please check back as we're spread out across the globe. Also, be sure to grab each portion by the 15th of the month. After the 15th, designers are free to put their potion of the blog train into their store(s). My template will remain available until the end of March. Happy collecting!

A random mini-kit

Yesterday I posted about the ScrapMatters Design Star 2011 contest. I couldn't reveal my entry here until first-round voting was completed; I found out this morning that I didn't make it to Round Two. Though I'm disappointed, it was a fun contest and I really enjoyed it. It was a great way to kick-start the design portion of my brain again.

Our assignment was to create a mini kit of three papers and five elements using the palette the provided. We could only use two CU products TOTAL in the kit. (This is where I learned the most--I created two textures, a ribbon, a button, and a price tag string on my own--and that was just a portion of what I photographed/scanned for future use.) I chose four of the six palette colors--a soft blue, a medium blue, a creamy yellow, and a light cocoa--for my mini and designed with my new nephew in mind. He's a very well-photographed little guy and I need to get going on scrapping those pictures! I may eventually expand this into a full-size kit.

So, without any further ado, I present to you my Design Star 2011 entry:
